Hi, I'm Mike Green, I'm one of the owners of 1AAuto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20 plus years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly, that's going to save you, time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video, we'll be showing you how to replace a window motor in this 1997 Toyota Camry, same as any '97 to '01 Camry. The tools you'll need, small and medium or large regular screwdrivers, Phillips screwdriver, a putty knife or door panel clip tool, a 10mm wrench or socket ratchet and a T25 size Torx screwdriver. To replace your window motor, you obviously need to pull off the door panel and remove the window regulator. We both have a door panel removal and a regulator video. If you just look at other videos that are in the Camry playlist, you'll see those videos, but you probably can pick up enough from this fast motion to see the door panel is a few screws and some clips, and you pull it off, and the regulator is five or six 10mm bolts, unplug it and pull it out.
Bear with it for another about 30, 40 seconds or so, and we'll get to the window motor, pulling it off the regulator and put it back on. Again, if you want to see the door panel and the window regulator in regular motion, just check out our other videos, thank you. Here is your regulator of the car. You can see it has a balance spring on it. We don't need to be too concerned about the balance spring. You can see here, it does have some tension on it, but it's just a regular set of pliers. I guess I come a little strong, but see especially in this down position, there's not a whole lot of tension on there. Even if I you have that and then really, even with that, you see I put that spring back on. You can really remove this window, or I mean a window motor without worrying too much about that balance spring.
I use my cordless drill here. You can see, the motor comes off there. This spring provides some tension, especially when you're going this way. It's more difficult, and then when it goes this way would be to go up, it helps it that way, so it's more difficult that way. You can see, there's not so much tension on there that it's going to fling anything. Obviously, I wouldn't put your fingers in there when you're taking it apart or anything. That balance spring, it's not so tight that it's going to launch something somewhere. You can remove your window motor, put it right back down here. Make sure the teeth get in there a little bit the other way, I guess screw it back in you can twist that a little bit, get your other two screws.
I got those screws in. I'm going to check, make sure they're good and tight. I would do it by hand, not with my drill, that way I know for sure that they're tight. Now, we're going to put it back in the door.
With that done, we're just going to do fast motion through putting in the window regulator. We hope this helps you out. Remember to check out 1AAuto.com for all your parts needs.
