Check out this video to learn how to replace the radiator cap on your 94-02 Dodge Ram!
Hey, friends! It's Len, here at 1A Auto.
Today, we're working on our 1996 Dodge Ram 1500. This has got the 5.9. I wanted to show you something very basic: the radiator cap. It's going to be super simple to service/replace. All you do, make sure it's cool to touch. You never want to open a radiator cap when it's hot. You want to make sure you have hand protection, and of course eye protection.
As you open up your radiator cap, you turn it while pressing down. You turn counterclockwise, and open away from your face just in case there's any pressure. Once it's off, you can inspect it. Make sure it looks like it's in good condition. If it's not, and it's dry and cracked, you'd recycle this, and then you'd replace it with a brand new one.
So, now we've got our radiator cap. We're going to line up this tab and tab with these two slots. Put it on, give it a nice little twist, until it bottoms out, can't turn any further, and that's it. Easy-peasy.
