Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing or maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20-plus years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly: that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video, we're going to show you how to take out and put back in the right hand, or passenger side, radiator fan. It's the one with a plastic shroud, for this 2000 Honda Accord. The tools you'll need are a 10mm socket and ratchet and a flat blade screwdriver.
When you turn on your vehicle's A/C, as I have here, you should see both fans go. If one of them is not working, that means that one is bad. If they are both not working then you need to check the relay or the fuse.
As we're looking at it, if you want to replace the fan on your passenger side, it's pretty simple. Actually take this hose, disconnect it, and pull your radiator overflow bottle up and out, which I'll do in a second. Disconnect your harness, which is right here. Press this tab down. Let me try a different hand here. Press the tab down. Disconnect. Pry off this wire holder and this wire holder and then remove two 10mm bolts.
Here I am pulling that radiator bottle up and out and setting it aside and now using a screwdriver to pry those wire clips out that hold the wire to the shroud, and then finally using my 10mm socket and ratchet to remove those two upper bolts. I'm going to remove the bolts that hold the radiator fold down. Those are 10mm as well. Once we do that, we'll just take our harness, slide it in front of our radiator fan so it's kind of between the fan and the radiator. Lift up on our radiator, lift up on the fan and slide the fan right out.
Obviously, for re-installation, put the fan down in, lift up on the radiator. Be careful. It will try and get caught up in the wires that you have behind it. Slide it down in there. Bring your wires up and back into the backside of it. Then the little posts down in the bottom have to go into the little holes. It's in. Now start our bolts. Take your radiator. It goes down into a single hole as well. Be sure it's started correctly. Start these bolts in. Move our harness back in. This one was unplugged. Plug this one in over here. Put our old flow bottle back in. Connect it. Put it back in.
