Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we are going to show you how to replace the coolant overflow bottle on this 2005 Ford Focus. The items you will need for this is a new coolant overflow bottle from 1AAuto.com, an 11mm socket and ratchet with an extension, pliers, locking pliers, a flat blade screwdriver, and a clean bottle or new coolant.
You want to start off by removing this 11mm bolt using your socket and ratchet with an extension. Now, using pliers, push the hose clamp teeth together and slide the clamp down. Then pull both those hoses free, and you can use a flat blade screwdriver to help pry those hoses off. Now, using your flat blade screwdriver, pry out the clip on the back of the overflow bottle. Now, using your pliers, push the teeth together on the large hose clamp and slide it back. Then twist the hose off about halfway. Then clip on your locking pliers and move the hose off the rest of the way.
Then take your new coolant overflow bottle, push the large hose back in to place, remove the locking pliers, and slide that hose clamp back up. If it locked together, unlock it. Then push those other two hoses into place and slide those hose clamps back up. Now push the bottle back onto that clip. Replace that 11mm bolt, and you want to twist it in by hand first and then just tighten it up. Refill the coolant bottle with fresh fluid and run the vehicle. Just check your fluid a couple of times as you drive it.
