Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks!
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the rear axle ABS speed sensor on this 2005 Ford F150. The items you'll need for this are a new rear axle ABS speed sensor from 1AAuto.com, a 3/8"? socket and ratchet, a flat blade screwdriver, and a hammer.
At the top of your rear differential there is this harness. You want to just push on the tab and disconnect the harness. That tab can be a little stiff, so it helps if you use a flat blade screwdriver. Holding the sensor in place is a 3/8"? bolt. Go ahead and remove that.
Now, using a flat blade screwdriver and a hammer, you want to just get the screwdriver underneath the sensor and pry up on it. It actually helps if you use a second flat blade screwdriver to pry at the top. You want to just work at it for a while, and eventually it will pop up. Then you can just pull it free.
Now just clean out, along the inside of this hole, making sure no debris falls into the differential. Then take some gear oil and rub it around the bottom of your new sensor.
Push the sensor into place and make sure it's all the way down into place so that it's fully seated. Then replace that 3/8"? bolt and tighten it up. Reconnect your harness and you're all set.
