- Pry the tailgate cables off the truck bed with a flat blade screwdriver
- Pull the tailgate off the passenger side
- Pull the tailgate off the driver side

step 2 :Installing the Tailgate
- Push in the tailgate hinge on the driver side
- Push in the tailgate hinge on passenger side
- Hook the tailgate cables onto the truck bed

In this video, we're going to show you how to remove and replace the tailgate on this 2005 Ford F150.
So you want to remove your tailgate cables from the bed of the truck. I'll just pry out, pull up, and then I'll do the same thing over here. Then lift up your tailgate and grab it right under here. It'll pull up off of the right-hand hinge, and then we've got to pull it off of the other side.
To reinstall your tailgate, just get in place, pull your tailgate cables out of the way. Get it installed on that hinge. Just lift this hinge up and make sure it pushes down on. Okay, hold the tailgate down, install the tailgate cables.
