How To Replace Serpentine Belt 1994-2004 Ford Mustang 3-8L

This vehicle has the 3.8 liter V6 in it and this is a pretty straight forward repair. The only tool you'll need is an 18 mm wrench. Okay, the first thing you want is a belt diagram and here's kind of a homemade one for this Mustang with the 3.8 liter engine and you just want to use your diagram, be familiar with it and relate it to how the belt is on your engine so that you can put it back at the correct way. you can see your serpentine belt, what to do is take an 18 mm wrench, want to put it down on your tensioner way down in here then pull up, okay, and then you pull the belt from this idler here and then slowly release your wrench, take it off and then move your belt.

Okay, reinstall, take that loop, put it down and around the crank shaft, okay, then up around the water pump. This side can go over here, you couldn't see it but I put it around the power steering pump. Okay, at the top and then a loop is down, around the tensioner, across to the AC, way over here. Okay. Basically I'm now on except for the alternator, just make sure everything is in the groove, where it should be. Okay, I've got the belt on, except for the alternator. I'm going to take my 18 mm, going to make some low, pull it up, okay and then pull the belt up on to the alternator, make sure it's underneath the idler there and release my tensioner, okay, make sure the belts all on, it's on that park steering, it's on my crank pulley there, tensioner, AC. It's all set.
