What's up, guys? I'm Andy from 1A Auto. In this video, I'm going to show you how to replace this shift linkage boot on this 2012 Nissan 370z. If you need parts for your vehicle, click the link in the description, and head over to 1aauto.com.
As you can see, this old boot is ripped, so we want to replace that. We have this vehicle lifted up on a two-post lift. If you're doing this at your house, you can use a jack and jack stance. I'm going to take a 12-millimeter socket and ratchet and loosen up this bolt right here on this shift linkage. It connects to the shift rod that goes up to the shifter. Get that bolt out, slide this linkage down. And, I can take the old boot off. I'm just going to cut the old boot because it'll be easier to take it off. Pull that off.
Now I'll take the new boot, and slide it in position. It's going to take a little bit of effort to get it on. I'm going to slide it over one ear first and then stretch it to go over the other one. I'm actually going to use a right-angle pick so that I can pull this over the edge, right here. And, that's slid over, and I can go all the way down to where this sits over this little lip, right there. And, that's good.
Now, I'm just going to slide the whole boot forward, then line the fork up and take this bolt, line this up. And, start to tighten this down, take my 12-millimeter socket and ratchet. Putting this bolt down. All right, then we'll tighten that up. It's tight, now I can take the boot, slide it over, and then we're going to slide it over the front. There's a little lip at the base of where the shifter is. I'm just going to slide that over first, on the front. And then, there's two pulled halves, you can pull it over.
All right, it's all set.
