To remove the shifter knob, just grab it with two hands. Twist it like your unscrewing a screw to the left, counterclockwise. Once it's all the way unscrewed, pull it off. Take the shifter knob, and start screwing it on clockwise. It's going to get tighter. Once it feels pretty snug, just go a little bit further and make sure it lines up with how it came off.
