How to repair, install, fix, change or replace a broken, smashed, cracked, or shattered side view mirror on 14 Subaru XV Crosstrek.
Flat Blade Screwdriver
Painter's Tape
Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
To remove the mirror glass, I've tilted it all the way up using the adjustment on the driver’s side door. Then I'm also going to put some masking tape over it, just in case in breaks while I'm removing it. We won't have glass go everywhere. I'm just going to pull the mirror out just a little bit.
There is a small channel, right under here, and you got to kind of follow it all the way up. And there's a white piece of plastic you can just barely see. You kind of feel it and try to pop it backwards. Just like that. And there's two channels. There's one way over on this side too. Pop it that way. Then the mirror glass will kind of, pull down and out.
So, you're pulling it down and off of these hooks that go around the top part of the plastic. And what you're doing is popping. When you're bringing the flat bladed screwdriver up here, you're popping the white plastic here. This clip here, out of here. If you got heated mirrors, you can just unplug it. And you can change the mirror glass.
I took the new piece of glass and plugged the heated mirror element back in. I'll just slide those over the connectors. These hooks here, I'm going to slide up from the bottom and catch these little bars here on the white part. So I'm going to flip it in. Try to grab it upwards like that and then push it down. Snap it in place. That's just moving on the motor, but the mirror glass is locked in place now and replaced.
