Flat Blade Screwdriver
Phillips Head Screwdriver
Trim Tool Set
Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
All right. The first thing we're going to do, we're going to take this trim piece right off here and use a trim tool. We sell these tools at 1aauto.com. Just get in behind here and pry it out. There's three retainers.
Next, before we pull this door panel out, we have a screw down in here. We're going to pull this cover off with a flat blade tool. Just get in under here and pry up. And there's a Phillips head screw right there. Take a Phillips head screwdriver and pull the screw out. We can grab right here and pull up. Pull the switches out. There's a clip right under here.
You need a trim tool, and just pry up. There's a clip right there. You can disconnect these electrical connectors. Just push down terminal. Pull it out. Then, with this one, the little lock is in there a little bit, so I'll use a flat blade tool to help me, and then just work it back and forth. Pull that out. You can set those aside.
Then we need to take this trim piece off of this handle. I'm going to take a flat blade tool, stick it in there, and take the trim tool. Get under here. Pry this out like that. There's a connector right there, and these little tabs click onto there. Take that out. Then I'm going to take the trim tool, and in between this weatherstripping in the door panel, I'll just pry in underneath here, and there's clips. Just go around the door panel, popping these clips out. Go around here, just like that. Once all the clips are out, grab the door panel and just pull up. Pull it out of our way.
All right, we're going to disconnect this electrical connector right here. There's a little tab right there in the connector. Just push that down and pull it out. Then we're going to take a Phillips head screwdriver, and take these screws out. One right here, and there should be three more over here. This one here and one here. So this is the last one I have to take out. I'm going to hold the mirror as I take this last screw out so it doesn't fall. All right, now pull the mirror off, and pull the connector out.
This is our old part. This is our new part from 1aauto.com. As you can see, the design is very similar. The mounting holes are in the same spot. Connectors are the same, and the mirrors are the same.
This outside can be painted to match. We're leaving them black on this vehicle. It also comes with some padding that we'll put there. Now before we install our mirror, we're going to install this padding that goes on the back. We're going to peel this sticker part off, line it up with the holes, slide it over there, over there, and line the wire hole up, and that's good. Now we can install our mirror.
Now we're going to slide the wiring harness through first. Then we're going to line our holes up. Push the mirror on. Over here we'll take our screws. I'm just going to start the top one. I'm not going to tighten it down yet. We'll install the other screws. Once we get all the screws started, then we can snug them all up. Then we can take our wiring harness and slide in through there. Come over here and connect it to the connector.
Before we put the door panel back on, we want to test our mirror, so we're going to hook up the mirror connector right there. We don't have to hook up the window switches, but okay, and then we're going to put it to the left mirror and we'll test it. It goes to the left, goes to the right, goes down, and it goes up. At this point, we can turn the key off, disconnect the electrical connector for the mirror switch, and put the door panel back on.
All right, we're going to reinstall the door panel. We're going to get it lined up up top first. It helps to have the window down when you're doing this. Line the clips up, and then we'll press them down. Okay, then we have our wiring connectors out.
We can take connect our mirror switch, and then connect our window switches. Make sure those are locked in. Then you can take that and push that down. Now we'll take our Phillips head screw, reinstall that. Just snug that down, then close the lid. Now we can install this trim piece. Line this up over here and just clip it into place. And this last one, line these little tabs up over here and push it down.
