Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. We've been selling auto parts for over 30 years.
Hi, everyone. Sue here at 1A Auto. Today on our '06 Honda Element, I'm going to be changing out this driver's side mirror. If you need this part or any other part for your car, click on the link below and head on over to 1aauto.com
First thing you want to do is open the door and access this cover panel behind the mirror. It's just pushed on with push-pins, so you're just going to grab it firmly and pull. Then we have three mounting nuts. That's an 8mm nut and then the electrical connector, which has the prong on it. It's actually on the bottom. You got to push on that tab and pull out the electrical connector.
8mm socket. I'm going to spend the three mounting nuts out. Previously, I have the window down as you can tell for a reason, because that way I like to use my arm to hold it out there to get it secure. I like to take the last bolt for the top off because that's where the gravity point is.
Now, loosen up the top one. Take it off with my hand, and I grab this mirror in order to pull it right up. Here we have our new side mirror from 1A Auto and we have the factory side mirror for this '06 Honda Element. They have the same rubber seal for the weather seal, electrical connecting and three mounting studs, and the glass. Nice new glass. If you need this part or any other part for your car, click on the link below and head on over to 1aauto.com.
Now we're going to install the new mirror. I'm going to reposition myself the way it was. I've got the new mirror, and I'm going to line up the three mounting holes and put the studs right through.
As you can see, the studs don't come all the way through. That's because the new rubber seal also hasn't been squished and set into place. You're going to have to push it as hard as you can. Start the mounting nuts on all three studs.
Actually, I'm going to probably use my socket and pull it through for the last one so I can get that last stud ready to go. Now, I can better put that one on my socket and start it. I don't want to drop it. It's kind of a feel thing and a visual. You can run your hand on the outside body and feel it snug.
The gasket bottom is right out. Double check. Perfect. Now we just plug the new mirror into the socket. Into the harness I mean. Snap it in. Take out trim piece. You get two hooks in the bottom and a snap ring on the top. You put the two hook lines up, and we're done. I'm going to switch my mirror control over to left, and I'm pressing the buttons. Up works. Down works. In and out. Look at that. It's a pretty nice mirror.
