Brought to you by 1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com.
In this video I'm going to show you how to service a taillight, both replacing a taillight if it's broken as well as if you just need to replace the bulb. The only tool you'll need is a 10 mm wrench. To service your taillight, as you can see, this one was cracked up a little bit and they used some goop to fill it in. What you'll want to do is start here in the trunk. You'll want to remove these two Phillips screws and if you have a net here, you can remove that. Pull on them and turn it counterclockwise. Sometimes they'll pull off a little easier.
Pull this out and you should have to pull it out and then up. It looks like mine's been out before. You can see, you pull this out, and then pull your insulation down as well. You want to remove three 10 mm nuts, here. I'll speed up here. These nuts, once you get them loose, they come off pretty easy. I used my wrench for a minute and then take them off with my fingers.
Then you pull your taillight back out. If you're just looking to change the bulb, this smaller bulb you just turn it counterclockwise and receptacle comes right out. The bulb pulls right from the socket and pushes it back in. The larger bulb, there's a tab here. You press the tab with your thumb, turn it counterclockwise, and pull it out. This bulb just pulls straight out. Push it back in. If you're looking to replace the whole taillight, take that clip off. Old taillight comes off. New taillight from 1A Auto. You don't want these shipping protectors. You don't want these shipping protectors. Let's see here. This bulb goes right in. Twist to lock. Small one goes right in. Twist clockwise to lock. Take this clip; clip it on to the little plastic ledge here. Then just slide this right back in. Make sure the sets are over the right spots.
From the trunk side, we'll fast forward here again. I take the nuts and thread them on by hand first and then once you have them threaded on by hand, use your wrench. If you want to get them so they're get them so they're starting to tighten, then tighten them about half a turn. They don't have to be all that tight, just on there good and snug. Push this back in place. Bring the skin in and down. In fact, you just push right back on. There's your new light installed.
