Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how to video helps you out and next time you need parts for your vehicle think of 1AAuto.com.
In this video we show you how to service the taillight on this 2005 Chevy Cobalt. Pretty much the same for any 2005 to 2010 Cobalt. The only tool you will need is a 7mm socket with a ratchet and extension or a 7mm wrench will work as well.

To service your taillight, you will want to remove these two 7mm screws. I will do that a little later. Inside, you want to go right back up in here and remove this thumb screw here. Then pull this back and there is another thumb screw right up here. Here I use a 7mm socket with a ratchet and extension to remove those two screws. Take those out and pull the light right out. There's a connection right here. Press down on the tab and pull that from there. Press down on the tab here and disconnect the light.

You don't have to disconnect it, but to just service the bulbs turn counterclockwise and then they just pull out of their sockets. Replace them with new ones, if that is what you need to do. Same thing here and the same thing here. To reinstall, it's just a reversal of the procedure. Make sure you plug in your connection. I'll look back at the studs and make sure they go right into the body.

I'm going to fast forward here again as we just tighten up those two screws again 7mm socket with a ratchet and extension or just a 7mm wrench will work as well. Now you want to take this plain wing nut and put it up on the top one here. Tighten it up into place. Put this trim back in place. Now take this and put it right on here. Okay, the light's all set.
