Brought to you by 1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the Internet. Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you and the next time you need a part for your vehicle think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks. In this video, we show you how to the replace the taillight assembly as well as change the taillight bulbs on this 2006 Jeep Liberty and it's the same part and process on these Liberty's from 2005 to 2007. The only items you'll need for this is a new taillight assembly from 1AAuto.com and T20 Torx bit and a ratchet with an extension.
The taillights held in by two T20 Torx bolts and we'll just fast forward as Don removes both of these. Once those are removed, pull out on the taillight. Lean it back. Now to service your bulbs, you just twist out the socket, pull the bulb out, push your new bulb into place and twist it back in. It's the same for all three sockets. To disconnect your assembly, pull the harness from the taillight and then push this red clip out. Then push the tab on the harness and pull it free. On the left is the old taillight assembly. On the right is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical and they'll mount exactly the same.
Connect your new taillight and then push that red clip back in. Line up these two tabs with the two holes on the vehicle and push them in place. Making sure your harness is tucked behind the taillight. We'll just fast forward here as Don replaces those two T20 Torx bolts. We've shown you how to do the right rear taillight and we're going to show you how to access the fasteners for the left rear taillight. Go ahead in through here. I'm going to use the same T20 bit, I'm going to use a long extension and you can see, you're going to go in right through here to access the upper one and down here to access the lower one. Aside from that, the operation in changing the taillight light bulbs and changing the assembly is exactly the same as the right side. We do offer two types of taillights at 1A Auto. We have the regular replacement light as you can see here and we also have these taillights with the guard on them.
