How to install, repair, fix, change or replace a broken, damaged, burned out, cracked, faded, cloudy or chipped tail light / brake light on 15, 16 Ford F-150

step 1 :Removing the Tail Light
- Remove the two 8mm bolts from the tail light bracket
- Pull the tail light out
- Disconnect the tail light wiring harness

step 2 :Servicing the Bulbs
- Twist the bulb socket counterclockwise out of the light
- Pull the bulb off of the socket
- Push on the new bulb
- Twist the bulb clockwise into the light

step 3 :Installing the New Tail Light
- Reconnect the wiring harness to the tail light
- Line up the bolt holes on the tail light bracket to the bolt holes on the vehicle
- Replace the 8mm bolts into the tail light

The only tool you'll need for this is an 8 millimeter socket and ratchet.
Open up your tailgate. And then there's two 8 millimeter bolts that hold the back of the tail light. We'll remove those. Shake the light a little bit, try and loosen up any of the clips. And then it pops out.
And if you're just looking to replace your bulbs, turn these counterclockwise as you're looking at them from the back. And they come off, and your tail light's off.
Bulb replacement, you don't have to worry about touching these, they're not the high powered ones, but you just pull them straight out. New ones go in, same thing with the backup light.
And then obviously to reinstall, the green connector goes in the bottom, turn it 'til it's correct, clockwise to lock it in place. The brown connector, same thing, clockwise as you're looking at it from the back. There is a pin right back here, it goes in there. And then there's also one on the bottom pin here. Guide it into there, you can kind of look at them from the top. Make sure they go into place.
There's also another guide pin right here. Locked everything into place. Replace your two 8 millimeter bolts. Tighten them up firm but don't overtighten them.
