Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the tailgate handle on this 2009 Nissan Titan. The items you'll need for this are a new tailgate handle from 1AAuto.com, Phillip's screwdriver, 10mm socket and ratchet, putty knife, and some double-sided tape.
Pull down your tailgate and then remove these eight Phillip's screws that hold this panel into place. We'll fast forward as Don does that. Once those are removed, the panel lifts up and off.
On the back of your tailgate handle, there's two 10mm nuts. Just go ahead and remove those. Now, there are six tabs that hold the trim panel around the tailgate: three on the side there and three on the other side. You want to squeeze these tabs together and push them through. Squeeze together and push down through. Once all six are pushed through, the handle will pull down and out.
Now, remove this 10mm bolt holding the lock in place and then pull the bolt and lock out. Now, using a putty knife, carefully remove the badge from the tailgate handle. We'll fast forward as Don does the rest of this. Then it lifts up and off.
On the left is the old tailgate handle, on the right is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical and they're going to fit exactly the same. Place pieces of double-sided tape around the badge. We'll fast forward as Don does this. Now, line up the pins and push the badge into place, and just press it down, making sure it's stuck into place. Then, push your lock back down into place and replace that 10mm bolt.
Now, you want to line up those studs on the door handle, and push them up through those holes. Then you want to make sure those clips are lined up, and then just hit them into place. We'll fast forward as Don replaces those two 10mm nuts.
Put the panel back into place, and then, replace those eight Phillip's screws.
