Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to service the tail light on this 2005 Hyundai Elantra. It's a pretty easy process. You will need an 8 millimeter socket with a ratchet, and maybe even an extension. We're going to show you replacing the tail light. At 1A Auto, we sell a very nice replacement if your tail light's been broken or damaged in any way. We also show you how to service the bulbs if that's all you need to do. Servicing the bulbs does require you to just pull the tail light from the body of the car. It's not that hard of a process.
I'm removing the two screws from the back of the tail light in the trunk. I'm going to pull off the inspection cover. You'll notice three 8 millimeter nuts. Speed it up here. We'll use an 8 millimeter socket and ratchet to remove those three bolts that hold the tail light to the body. Unclip the harness by pressing down on the tab. Push the grommet through.
Now, if you're looking to just service the bulbs. Twist and pull and this bulb is a pull-out type. Twist and pull out. This bulb is a twist type, where you push down and twist out. This one here is a pull out type. You're still going to twist the housing out. It's a pull out bulb. This is a twist type bulb.
I've got the new replacement from 1A Auto. It's going to go in just the way the factory one would. It's the exact same part. I'm going to feed the harness in. Pull it to where it's tight. We've got a locating pin here and it's going to line up with the grommet. Be sure to have that lined up before you push in. I'm making sure here that I've pulled the grommet through as far as it will go. I'm going to reconnect the harness. Snap it in, and put the nuts back on. We'll fast forward here. We always make sure that we put the nuts on by hand first, get them all the way on by hand, and then tighten them up nice and firm. You don't want to over tighten them. Tighten them up firm with your 8 millimeter socket and ratchet.
