Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we show you how to service the taillights, both if you're just looking to change a bulb or if you need to replace one with a new one from 1AAuto. If you're just looking to replace a bulb, you'll just need probably a small flat blade screwdriver. If you're looking to replace the whole assembly, you'll need the small flat blade screwdriver plus a 10 millimeter wrench or socket and ratchet.
Servicing the taillights in this vehicle's pretty easy. On this side, you just grab hold of this little panel and it pulls down. On this side, it does have a clip. Use a small screwdriver or something. This one's actually kind of broken. Push in the middle and then pull this clip off. Then you pull this down and out.
Now, just to service the bulbs themselves, there's a little tab here that you push up on, and this bulb panel comes right out. All you do is push in, turn it counterclockwise, pull out, and the bulbs come out. Just make sure you do replace them with the single contact bulbs. They're all the same. This one is colored orange since it's the signal light.
If you're looking to replace the whole assembly, then there are three 10 millimeter nuts: one here, one over there, and then one up there. I'll fast forward here as I remove those three nuts. They generally are pretty easy, with either a wrench or a socket and ratchet. Again, they're 10 millimeter. Once you get them started, they pretty much come off right just with your hands.
To reinstall the light is just a reverse of the procedure. Put it in place. Go back through, make sure that the studs are going in the right spot. Thread my 10 millimeter nuts on. Fast-forward it as we put those nuts on and then tighten them up. You want to tighten them up firm but not too tight. You don't want to risk breaking any of the studs on the taillight. Now just take your bulb plate, and put it right back in. Just make sure it's snapped in place. Then put this right back up in place and pinch everything and line it up. If this clip . if yours isn't broken, you want to push the clip back up through so the middle is sticking up, and then you put the clip in. Then you would push that center part flush to lock it.
