Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the outer tail lamp assembly on a '97 Buick Lesabre. It's the same for the '97 through '99 models, and the process is basically the same from the left to the right. You'll need a 10mm wrench and a new taillight assembly from 1A Auto.
Remove this screw here. Pull back your carpet. You'll find one, two, three 10mm nuts and I'm going to use a wrench to get them started. As I speed up the video, I'm removing the three 10mm nuts. Push the grommet through and pull out the assembly.
If you're just looking to change the bulbs, this is a twist type. Push the tab in, twist, pull out, and this bulb just goes straight in. Match up your tabs, twist it, and lock it back in. This one is the same thing: twist and pull. Pull and it pulls out. Line up your tabs and twist back in.
Look at the old part and the new part from 1A Auto. Line your tabs, put your bulbs back in, twist and tight. Put your clip back on and, from the inside, pull your grommet through so that it seats, and go ahead and put your new assembly in. Put your three 10mm nuts back on. I'm going to fast-forward as I tighten those three 10mm nuts back up. Put your carpet back, with the plastic cap.
