How to install, repair, fix, change or replace a broken, damaged, burned out, cracked, faded, cloudy or chipped third brake light on 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 Toyota Prius.
Hi. I'm Mike from 1AAuto. We've been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
To remove the third brake light, I’ll lift up the hatch a little bit and just kind of rest it against my chest here. There's two Phillip's head screws holding it in. Remove them with a Phillip's head screwdriver. They're special screws, so don't lose them. Pull the brake light out. Unplug it. It locks underneath. Push it in. Pull it out. This is LED, so if it's not working, you replace the entire assembly.
This one is working. We just want to show you how to remove it. We'll reinstall it. Plug it back in. Slide it back into the opening. Stay in place there. We install the two Phillip's head screws that had the shoulder on them. Just slide them up. Don't over-tighten them. Put it on the screwdriver first, put it in place, just get it tight then stop, and then it's replaced.
