Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the hood light. This is 2008 Dodge Ram, but this light fits various Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles. Items you'll need include a hood light from 1AAuto.com, a 10mm socket, and ratchet.
Open up the hood, and your hood light's right over here. A few things can happen to them. There's actually just a little gravity switch inside. Sometimes, just harsh conditions can break the light or if you're working on your vehicle and accidentally hit it with something. Also, that gravity switch can sometimes break, but it's pretty tough. And also, you might need to service the bulb.
So, to service the bulb you would actually pull it down like that. This one's kind of broken, so it comes down a little easier. Pull it down, there's a little safety tab right here, push that up and out. And there's a tab here, push down and disconnect. 10mm bolt holds the remains of the light bracket in place.
The original part from the vehicle, you can see it's in two pieces and a part from 1AAuto, exact replacement is going to go right in there just like the original.
There is a little tab on the back side, just make sure you line that up in the slot on the hood, put it up in, reconnect our lead first and pull the safety tab in. Put it up in place, make sure that tab goes in, line it up, put the bolt in. It's all set. Just to make sure, put your hood down slowly, you can see it goes off as it goes down.
