How to Replace Wiper Arms 2007-13 Chevy Silverado

How to remove and replace damaged, bent, or failing windshield wiper arms on a 2008 Chevy Silveradoon 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 13 Chevy Silverados.

step 1 :Removing the Wiper Arm
- Pull the lever near the kick panel
- Move the hood catch to the right and lift up the hood
- Use a straight-blade screwdriver or a 90-degree pick to open the wiper arm cover and expose the nut
- Use a 15 mm socket, extension and ratchet to remove the nut
- Grab the wiper arm and rock it up and down to release it from the shaft
- Disconnect the windshield washer nozzle hose

step 2 :Replacing the Wiper Arm
- Line up wiper arm with marker tab on windshield (if the vehicle doesn't have a marker tab, you can mark where you'd like to position the arm)
- Reconnect the windshield washer nozzle hose
- Reinstall the wiper arm nut with a 15 mm socket, extension and ratchet, and push down on the wiper arm while reinstalling the nut
- Use a torque wrench and 15 mm socket to torque the nut to 22 foot-pounds
- Lock down the wiper arm cover

What's up, guys? I'm Andy from 1A Auto. Here, I'm going to be removing and re-installing a wiper arm on this 2008 Chevy Silverado work truck. If you need parts for your vehicle, click the link in the description and head over to 1aauto.com.
All right, we're going to start by opening the hood, right next to the kick panel. Pull on that lever. Then underneath the hood, there's a catch right here. Move it to the right, right there. Lift up on the hood. All right, now there's a little cover over the wiper arm, just kinda take a straight blade screwdriver. You could also take a 90 degree pick. Get underneath here. There's a little latch, and then slide that up, and then you can access the nut.
Now I'm going to use a 15 millimeter socket and extension and a ratchet. You'll loosen up this nut and take it off. Once it's loose, you can grab it with your hand and pull that off. Now I'm going to grab the wiper arm. Just rock it up and down to release it down below on the shaft and slide it up, just like that. Then twist it.
Now there is the washer nozzle hose. We're going to disconnect that down here. Slide that off, just like that, and pull the arm off, and now I'm going to do the same and take the other side off.
Alright, we're going to take the wiper arm. Just line this up, position. It's actually a little bit easier to take and install the washer hose now. Just get that lined up and then push it on, just like that. Now that the arm's on, we'll just push it down. Now on the windshield there is a little mark, generally, a little tab where the wiper should go. You can line that up with that. If it doesn't, you could mark it before you take it off or just position the blade where you would want the blades to be.
I'm going to take the wiper nut. Install the nut, and push down on the arm when you're installing the nut. A 15 millimeter socket, extension, and a ratchet. I'll just tighten this down. Now I'm going to take a torque wrench and the 15 millimeter socket and I'm going to torque this nut down to 22 foot pounds. I can take the cover and lock the cover back down and I'll do the same with the other one.
