How to repair a seat belt stopper to prevent a seat belt buckle from falling
Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
The front seatbelt to your car should have this little button here, also called a stopper. It keeps the seatbelt buckle from sliding down. On the other side of our car, it's broken off. We're going to show you how to replace that.
Here's our broken stopper, and as you can see, it goes right here in this little hole in the seatbelt. But without it, the buckle just slides all the way down, and it's super annoying when you go to get in the car. Instead of having the belt buckle up here, it's slid down here next to the seat. We're going to show you how to replace that.
You can buy a brand new one from 1aauto.com, and it's as simple as squishing it together. The new one has a pointy bit that will help go through the seatbelt. That has the matching side, which is going to go through like that. Also, make sure that your seatbelt buckle is above it, because once you put this on and crimp it down, it's one time use.
You can't take it back off. So if your buckle is all the way down here, it's going to be stuck down there, so you want to make sure the seatbelt buckle is up here. Now, take some slip joint pliers, and I'm just going to crimp it together as hard as I can. And it's going to squish the plastic out, and it's basically like a rivet. What it does is it basically squishes the plastic pin out so it can't come out. Now, our seatbelt buckle will rest up there, where it's supposed to.
