Ram Dakota
The Ram Dakota, formerly known as the Dodge Dakota, existed for the one model year before its discontinuation due to a lack of demand in the compact truck segment. Initially built to be a compact truck with full-size capability, the Dodge Dakota was fairly successful in the small truck segment. In 2009, when Chrysler split the truck division into its own company, Ram Trucks, the Dakota got out of Dodge. The 2011 model, the only year Ram offered the Dakota, came with a standard 3.7-liter V6 capable of 210 horsepower, but the 4.7-liter V8 with 302 horsepower was also available. It offered a two or four-wheel drive, a remote start system, power-heated mirrors, and three trims: the ST, Lamarie, and Big Horn. It also offered the two-door extended cab or the four-door Crew Cab. The Dakota is usually rumored to be in the works for a new model-though it never amounts to more than pure speculation. As of today, Dakota models remain as a remnant of the past.
