Brought to you by 1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20+ years' experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly, that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video I'm going to show you how to replace the headlights both just do the bulbs as well as replace the whole headlight assemblies on this '02 Toyota Tundra. Tools you will need are a 10mm socket with a ratchet and extension, as well as a Phillips and flat blade screwdriver. If you're just looking to replace a bulb I'll come right in behind and there's a connector right here. This connector you want to shake up and down, side-to-side, and then eventually it will pull off. Let's get this connector off, and then this boot here you can pull it up and off and I can see my bulb is already loose in here. Then once you get this back see this piece of wire here my fingers on press that wire up and out and then once this boot comes off your bulb comes up and out. To put it back in, pull the wire out of the way, put your bulb back in, push the wire down, and lock it in place. Take your boot and put it back in place, and then you take your connector and plug the light back in. Maybe you are looking to replace the whole headlight assembly because maybe you got in a little accident or something and broke one of the headlights. Or maybe you're looking to take your truck looking from this to more like something like this. Let's look at that again. Here's our truck before with the old lights, and now after with a new set of lights from 1A Auto.
Really in just about 45 minutes to an hour you can do this with basic tools and you really take miles off the front of your truck. Use a Phillips screwdriver. Kind of work it into this screw bit and turn a little bit, and then use a flat blade screwdriver and pry it up. This center should come up first and then the whole clip should come out. Once you have that out, you want to pull on the light and you can kind of shake it loose. If you pull really firmly, it comes forward. Then around back here is your connector. You can press the button and disconnect the bulb. Now to remove your headlight, there are four fasteners; a 10mm bolt here, a 10mm nut down here, and then two 10mm nuts over here; one there, and one there. I'm going to fast forward as I remove that bolt and the three nuts. Once those bolts are out, lift up on this side of the light, lift up on the inside of the light. The light comes out. Remove your connector.
Your headlight from 1A Auto will go right in and connect to your connector. Put the light in. Put it down on these two studs over here first. Go onto this one and then up there. We'll speed it up again here as I put those nuts and bolts on by hand first and then tighten them up nice and snug. You don't have to have them too tight just enough to hold the light together. When you're putting it back in, this tab here in the fender goes between this tab here so plug your bolt in. Feed it in and kind of look back here and see how it's going in. Make sure it's pressed against the light. Make sure it is up on top there. Clips right in. Take your little top clip push it together down in and you're all set.
We hope this helps you out. Brought to you by www.1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. Please feel free to call us toll free, 888-844-3393. We're the company that's here for you on the internet and in person.

Good product. A little difficult to install
wayne
February 19, 2017
The headlights fit well. Somewhat difficult to install. Video made it look easier than it was. Looks like the factory OEM but can tell the plastic and metal components are not as robust in quality. However, for as old as my truck is, I'm satisfied. I will purchase other components from 1A Auto in the future. Would be nice to see these products being manufacturered in the U.S. using U.S. workers and components. But at the same reasonable prices.

August 31, 2018
Great looking and working headlights! It's nice to see at night again! Installation problems with removing the side lights, as noted in the instructional video, are not fully documented. There is a clip on the inside (toward the hood) that latches, and one side was very difficult to remove. However, once the side lights are removed the rest of the installation is very straightforward and easy.

Great looking lights! Fast shipping. But the passenger light has weird shadows in the beam. The drivers side beam is perferct. But the passenger side light beam has all these shadows. It works but I wish the light beam was like the driver side.
Works great!

These headlights are a perfect fit. There was also an instructional video on their website to assist in the removal and replacement of the old headlights. The price was very comparable to other websites. I definitely recommend this product and will use 1A Auto in the future for other parts replacements. Their website has a lot of useful "how to" videos on parts replacement.

'02 Tundra Headlight Assembly Replacement
E
November 28, 2019
I got tired of trying to polish the plastic lenses on my old 02 Tundra and decided to find out if replacement headlight lenses were available at a price I could afford. The lenses are not available. You have to buy the whole assemblies. But, sure enough, 1A Auto Parts had them. I figured a couple hundred bucks at least. No way. They had after market replacements, both left and right, for around $84 total and free shipping too! I was flabbergasted at the price because if you've ever tried to replace those things on a more recent vehicle, you know they can cost you a horrible amount of money. I was dubious about the quality of the headlights before I ordered them but I read the 1A terms and conditions relative to returns and I decided to just do it. They took just a couple of days to arrive and when I opened the boxes, I found the packaging to be superior and well designed. I took out the headlights and they were gorgeous, no kidding. I went to their video on how to install the
1st gen tundra headlights.

Look exactly like the OEM headlights that I drove out of the dealership with way back when. Originals became super clouded, polished repeatedly but always again lost transparency. Super happy with these. Came carefully packaged, fit perfectly, bulbs included. Instructional video made the swap easy. Perfect fit. Great refresh, and restores the safety of full lumens.
Easy replacement & looks great!

Great product at very good price. I wish now I had replaced the headlights years ago as my old ones were yellowed.
The installation was pretty simple after watching the 1A-Auto video. You do have to hit the turn lights with your palm a few times to get them to disconnect, and once these are off the rest is straight forward.

Had some problems. I dont drive the truck much after I installed the new assembly. Took off yesterday and needed my lights coming home. There was only one light working. I pulled over to look and found the bulb was out. Looks like the wire retention was not engaged. When I went to engage it the little seat it slips under had broken off and was sitting in the assemble. Calling 1aauto today.

Looks just like the original factory version, but when you turn them on at night, the coverage is in spots unlike the original factory lights. They still light up most of the area, just not in a smooth flow as the originals.

Customer Q&A
Will I nned to have my Tundra headlights re-aimed after replaced the headlight capsule ?August 20, 2015

I used tape to mask off the edge patterns of my old headlights on the wall. Then after replacing them I could adjust to the tape marks.

I do not know if I was lucky or not because I aimed the old lights in my garage and marked them on the wall and the new pair were almost identical.

After I installed mine I did have to have them adjusted.
August 20, 2015
Tina H
10
Short answer is "yes". BUT, it is something you yourself can do . I only needed to readjust mine slightly. Before removing your old headlights - on level ground, evening or in a large building, park about 50 ft from a wall, mark where center of light beam hits, with lights on dim, replace the lights and readjust them until the beam hits same mark. May have to mark where front wheels were in case you have to go elsewhere to change headlights. Then test drive in traffic, I had the wife drive toward me, I was in another vehicle, and checked the blindness of the new lights. No other adjustments were needed. I could see good at night and haven't gotten flashed by other drivers. In a couple years I'll do the same with our RAV4, even though I'll have to drop the front bumper to get the old ones out. Good Luck, Enjoy the savings.

Yes. You will have to readjust the headlights after the install. Easily done by turning the adjustment knob.

Yes and no. I was able to do it myself simply by parking the Tundra at the end of the driveway and aiming the lights at the garage door and setting them up to match our other vehicles when I aimed them at the same place. This seemed to work just fine after a few minor adjustments and several test drives.
August 24, 2015

Yes. It's not that hard though. Just pull it up to a wall or garage door in lower light and adjust the aiming screws.

All those ideas for getting the headlights aimed right are great ideas, When i purchased mine, i guess I was lucky as well. I didn't have to adjust them at all. They were spot on.

Measure the distance of the headlights from the ground to the little circle on the headlight near the middle of the headlight. My 2004 4.7 Litre Toyota Tundra with the access cab and side step 6 1/2 ft bed was 37 inches. Then find a wall with a flat surface where you can back up 25 feet. Measure 37 inches from the ground, up the wall and put blue (or whatever color you like) masking/painters tape on a level line. Back up 25 feet from the wall and turn on your lights. Cover the RIGHT headlight so that you can only see the light from the left headlight. Adjust your light so that the top of the line of the light is 2-4 inches below the tape line. This will allow you to see without blinding the oncoming drivers. Now cover the LEFT light and do the same. After you make the 2-4 inch adjustment, take a test drive. Go back and adjust as necessary.

Thank you for your inquiry. We are happy to assist with locating the correct lights for your vehicle. Can you please provide the year, make and model so we can assist further with this? Please be advised, the majority of the headlights we carry do not include bulbs or wiring, and we do not offer them separately in most cases. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
