Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing or maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20-plus years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly: that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video, we're going to show you how to remove and put back on the rear door panel on this Dodge Intrepid. This is a 2004. It should be the same for most from 1998 to 2004. The tools you'll need include a small flat blade screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver. You may need a pair of pliers if the clips don't come out easily.
First you're going to want to use a small regular screwdriver and pry out that right there to reveal a Phillips screw. The same thing right down in here. Okay, for another Phillips screw, you want to remove that one, and that one, and then there are three on the bottom: one right there, middle, and there. We'll do a little fast-forward as I just remove those five Phillips screws. Take a small screwdriver and take the left panel off. Reach under your panel. You'll feel a little section where you can get your finger underneath. Pull it free, then work your hand back up in here and pull that free. You'll have to pull another clip free there. Then your panel comes up and you can pry your lock button back a little bit and push it down through. Now lift your panel up and off.
There's a little clip here that you can pry off with your fingers. Maybe you have to use a little screwdriver and pull this lock rod up and out. Then down here, there's a button on the back of your harness for your window switch. Right here's the button, so you pull that down and off, and your door panel comes off. You can see here, there's a clip left behind. The best thing is a pair of needle nose pliers like this, but you can just use a regular pair. The regular pair what you would do is put them on here and then put a screwdriver underneath and pry, but with these, I can pull the clip out and put that back in my door panel so I can get it back together.
Okay, to reinstall the door panel, first we're going to reconnect our power windows switch. Then we're going to put the panel close. We're going to grab our lock rod and put it down into the hole. You may need to manipulate the door panel a little bit. Push it down in and lock the clip on. Put the door panel up, press it against the window, and bring it down. Make sure your lock gets on there. Get that going. Put it up against the window and then down. Pull the lock up like that. Feel in behind the slot in the door panel. Push that on and push that on. We'll do a little fast-forward again as we reinstall the five screws that hold the door panel on. Once you have those in and firmed up nice and tight, then you can put the little panel back on the top and you're all done.
