Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the headlight switch on this 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It's the same part and similar process on these Cherokees from '96 to '98. The items that you'll need for this are a new headlight switch from 1AAuto.com and a Phillips screwdriver.

Start off by pulling off these trim panels. There's one here and behind it you'll see a series of Phillips screws, and then there are more Phillips screws along the top up here that you want to remove, and then more over here behind this trim panel. Let's go ahead and remove all those Phillips screws. We'll fast forward as Mike does that. Tilt the steering wheel down, and then pull down on this top panel, and get your fingers in there, and then just pull it forward. You can lift that up and out. Then there are three Phillips screws down here and an additional one on the side, and we're actually missing the three lower ones. We'll just remove this one and then you can pull this panel down and set it aside.

Now remove the Phillips screws that hold in your headlight switch and we'll fast forward as Mike does that. Pull out on the switch and then to disconnect it, lift up on the tab while you pull out on the harness.

Take your new headlight switch and reconnect the harness and fit the headlight switch back into place, and then replace the Phillips screws that hold it there, and just tighten those up.

Now you can lower this trim panel back down behind the steering wheel and snap it into place and replace all of those Phillips screws. Put your lower panel back into place and replace the Phillips screws, and then put these trim panels back in place, and you're all set.
