Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the hood latch and striker assembly on a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The items you'll need for this repair are new latch and striker assembly from 1AAuto.com, as well as a 10 millimeter socket ratchet and extension and a paint pen.

Release the green clip from the latch rod. Rotate it out of the way. Remove the rod from the retainer. We're just going to mark the center of where our old latch and striker assembly sat to make it easier to line up our new part. Now we can remove these two 10 millimeter bolts.

Here we have our old part that we removed from our truck and our new part from 1AAuto.com. As you can see these parts are identical. We have the same size latch and the same strikers. We have the same holes. The driver side is slotted to give us a little bit of adjustment to make sure that our latch lines up perfectly. What happens to these is they get rusted up. You can see there is a lot of buildup on our striker here, and the latch is getting a little bit sticky or these springs can break the clips for the latch rod retainers. That will prevent you from opening your hood. It's obviously a very important part of servicing your vehicle. If yours is becoming gummed up, won't move properly, or isn't allowing you to release your hood, this new part from 1AAuto is going to fix you up right.

You're going to want to make sure that our paint mark lines up. Install our hardware keeping an eye on that alignment mark we made earlier. Tighten down our two bolts. Reinstall the latch rod. Snap the retainer into place. Check for proper alignment of the hood. It holds our hood closed, allows our hood to release, and opens nice and smooth.

Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helps you out. Brought to you by www.1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the Internet. Please feel free to call us toll-free, 888-844-3393. We're the company that's here for you on the Internet and in person.
