Here are the items you'll need for this repair: small flat blade screwdriver
When replacing your trunk struts, the trunk tends to stand more upright than the hood and be a lot lighter and smaller. You don't really need to prop this in order to replace them. Simply pry up on the clip. I am keeping one hand on the top, here, just to make sure that it doesn't fall on me. Pry out on the clip. You don't have to remove it fully, just get it out far enough that you can remove it from the ball on the trunk.
Using that same flat blade, pry out on the clip at the bottom, and remove the hood strut from the ball socket. Ensure that the clip is fully seated into place. This goes with the shiny metal rod facing down and the black rod on the top. Go ahead and clip that in. Make sure it's on there nice and tight. Do the same thing for the top of the trunk. Replace the other one using these same steps on the opposite side, and you're good to go.
