Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to be replacing the output speed sensor in this 2008 Dodge Ram. All you'll need is a deep 8 millimeter socket and ratchet.
You can find the sensor up here on the side of the transmission towards the back. It has one 8 millimeter bolt holding it in place. Once you remove the bolt, you can unclip the wiring connector by pushing down the tab. At this point, you can turn it up 90 degrees like this, and then wiggle it a little bit to get it out.
This is a 1ATRS00309. It is an input and an output speed sensor, depending on where you put it on the transmission. It's actually the same part number for both. This is the original one that we just pulled out of a 2008 Dodge Ram. You can see that they look absolutely identical in every way. The clip will clip on properly. It has the metal sleeve where the bolt goes.
If your original speed sensor is damaged or just not functioning in some way, this new 1A Auto speed sensor will get you going down the road again. Here's the new speed sensor from 1A Auto.
If you want, you can put a little transmission fluid around the seal here to make it slide in a little bit easier. You can insert it right back in the back of the transmission. Wiggle it back and forth until it snaps into place.
You put your 8 millimeter bolt back in, and tighten it up with your 8 millimeter ratchet socket. Then just put the clip on, and lock it in.
Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit 1AAuto.com. Also check out our other helpful how-to and diagnosis videos.
